Data informing the dengue simulation model. A variety of data sources were used to build the dengue simulation model consisting of 4 key components i) a human population sub-model, ii) a mosquito population sub-model, iii) a dengue virus transmission sub- model and iv) a dengue control sub-model. It should be noted that a mosquito population dynamics sub-model similar to that previously described by Otero et al. [23, 25] was used, with modifications as described in the Additional file 1.
