The following search terms were used: “Bacillus pyogenes”, “Corynebacterium pyogenes”, “Actinomyces pyogenes”, “Arcanobacterium pyogenes”, “Trueperella pyogenes”, and “endocarditis”. Additionally, the bibliography of the retrieved publications was screened. Cases of endocarditis due to species of Arcanobacterium other than Arcanobacterium pyogenes, as well as cases in animals were not considered
