  1. Children with acute febrile condition (n = 217) were grouped based on the haemoglobin genotype. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were determined across genotypes using bivariate logistic regression model controlling for age, sex. P-values in bold was statistically significant at P ≤ 0.05. The reference groups in the regression analysis were the homozygous wild-type genotypes (HbAA)
