Whole lung homogenates were obtained at 24 hours after intranasal infection with 4*10⁵ CFU of S. pneumoniae. Data are means ± SEM (N = 7 per group). TNF-α, IL-1β, MIP-2 and KC values are in pg/ml. TLIS = total lung inflammation score in arbitrary units, as described in the Methods section.
Ly-6 G score = percentage of lung surface that is Ly-6 G positive, see Methods section.
