  1. aMice were immunized by i.p. injection twice, 3 weeks apart, with 4 μg of the inactivated vaccine with or without an adjuvant (MF59, alum, or chitosan). Mice were challenged with a lethal dose of SG-MCMV 6 months after the last immunization. Serum samples from the immunized mice were collected 2 days prior to challenge. The survival of mice 3 weeks after the challenge was measured.
