The study design and the characteristics of the study subjects. Two hundred and sixty dengue fever patients were recruited in our study; among them, 96 cases were identified as dengue NS1-positive. NS1-positive serum samples were collected for virus amplification and viral RNA extraction. Phylogenetic analysis was then conducted to characterize the origin of DENV in Qiyang, Hunan, during the 2018 outbreak
