Proven IPA

Histopathological or cytopathological examination of lung tissue showing Aspergillus hyphae from needle aspiration or biopsy specimen with evidence of associated tissue damage, OR positive culture result for Aspergillus from a sample obtained by sterile procedure from the lung.

Probable IPA

Host factors, AND clinical criteria, AND mycological criteria

Possible IPA

Host factors AND clinical criteria

No IPA

Other cases excluded from proven, probable and possible IPA groups
