Cluster analysis of all human and bovine strains. A dendrogram was generated using a similarity matrix (settings: Dice, UPGMA with 3 % optimisation and 1 % band tolerance) from the results of pulse-field gel electrophoresis using the restriction enzyme SmaI and DNA banding analysis using BioNumerics software. Cluster analysis was completed with the genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of the strains: multilocus sequence typing (ST), sap/serotype, allele derived from gene sequences for major outer membrane proteins cmp1 and cmp2, presence (+) or absence (−) of a genomic island containing type IV secretions system (T4SS) and resistance (expressed as minimal inhibitory concentration, MIC) to the antibiotics tetracycline (MIC Tet) and streptomycin (MIC Strep). With a cut-off at 70 % of similarity of the Dice coefficient, 2 major clusters A and B are identifiable
