Viral rebound after stopping immediate HAART. The viremia has been monitored in three different stages after discontinuation. From top to bottom: 1 month, 6 months and 1 year after therapy termination, respectively. Both in vivo and in silico patients were started on HAART during primary infection. The shadowed area (low viremia <50 RNA copies/ml) corresponds to the percentage of patients that manage spontaneously to control viremia after the initial interruption of therapy. We predict 16% of successful cases of immune control, which is in good agreement with the 22% obtained by clinical observations.
