Purified HIV-1 BaL (2.5 × 109 particles/100 μl) was treated with cellulose sulfate (final concentration 5 mg/ml) for 5 min at 37°C. The mixture was cooled in ice and divided into 2 aliquots. One aliquot was centrifuged for 1 h at 14,000 rpm and the 2nd aliquot was precipitated with PEG 6000 (final concentration 3%). gp120 in the respective supernatant fluids and pellets (resuspended in PBS) was determined by ELISA as described [37]; (see Methods section).Back to article page
