Effect of polymeric anionic candidate microbicides on clotting of ACD plasma. The compounds indicated on the abscissa (final concentrations of 100 and 1000 μg/ml, respectively) were added to fresh citrated plasma prewarmed to 37°C. CaCl2 was added to a final concentration of 10 mM, and the time when clot formation had started was measured. The increase in clotting time as compared with the time required for clotting of plasma in the absence of any added compounds is shown.
