Molecular typing of Fusarium isolates ( n = 168) collected from patients and the environment. Molecular typing to species complexes and species was accomplished by amplification and genetic sequencing of the translation elongation factor 1α (EF-1α) gene. Identities of study isolates were resolved by comparison of EF-1α molecular sequences to sequences of known Fusarium species archived in a in a curated database, FUSARIUM ID [8]. FSSC: Fusarium solani species complex; FOSC: Fusarium oxysporum species complex; FIESC: Fusarium incarnatum-equiseti species complex; GFSC: Gibberella fujikuroi species complex.
